We loved meeting all our wonderful grandparents today
We would like to offer our heartfelt thanks to Ms Ryan’s wonderful parents, Margaret and Frank, who recently visited the children from Junior Infants to 2nd Class, as well as the Sunshine Room.
Margaret brought along her beautiful alto harp and treated the children to a delightful musical recital. She sang child-pleasing favourites such as “There Was an Old Woman” and “We’re Going to the Zoo.” The children were absolutely captivated by the performance and were fully engrossed from beginning to end.
It was a truly special visit, and we are very grateful to Margaret and Frank for sharing their time and talents with us.
Ms Mc Adams Dad also visited these classes and chatted about
life as a grandad. He shared lovely stories and compared what school life was like for him as a child 70 years ago with what it is like for his grandchildren today.
The children were fascinated to hear about the differences — from classroom routines, school lunches, walking 2 miles to and from school, the subjects taught to the games children played at break time etc.
It was a wonderful opportunity for them to reflect on how much schools have changed over the years, while also recognising the many things that remain the same.
