Our aim in SESE is to combine theory with observation and practical work.We have very generous grounds which allow us to get a clear understanding of the seasonal changes in nature.Shrubs and trees,ranging from mature trees to young saplings,are to be seen in the grounds.We have one area which contains Irish trees only. The children are regularly involved in the maintenance of and caring for the trees. The school has won many awards for the quality and diversity of our grounds. Our most recent prize was received on October 6th. Dún Laoghaire Rathdown Co.Co. awarded us €300 for work done on our grounds,our re-cycling programme and the new tree planting project.
We also focus a great deal on recycling and litter management.The recycling programme is very much child driven and they manage most aspects of the recycling programme. From time to time, we engage with the local community-to clean up untidy areas,for example.Mr. Michael Brennan does tremendous work in overseeing the recycling and litter management programmes.
