Queen of Angels Seachtain na Gaeilge 2019

Seachtain na Gaeilge took place from Tuesday, 12th until Friday, 15th March this year in Queen of Angels. It was a great success again with lots of activities going on throughout the week.

Every class provided beautiful artwork with a Gaeilge theme which was displayed in the hall. Events such as An Tóraíocht Taisce ( Treasure Hunt) and An Tráth na gCeist ( Table Quiz) provided great entertainment for the classes. The children also had great fun taking part in the competition “Cé hé mise?” where they had to guess the photos of the staff when they were very young.

Every class came to the hall for some céilí dancing on Wednesday. Finally, on Friday we had our annual “Lá Glas” where everyone came dressed in 40 shades of green with some orange and white thrown in! To kick start this Lá Speisialta , every class gathered in the schoolyard and we had our very own Paráid Naomh Pádraig led by our wonderful grand marshals, Dara Collins and Ananya.

The children played the bodhráns, flew flags, shook shamrocks, banged drums, in fact, every instrument from our music room was played in the parade as we marched around the grounds of the school and neighbouring Wedgewood. Later in the day, the entire school gathered in the hall for our Seó where all the children got to showcase their talents through song, dance, recitals and dramas in our wonderful native language.

Bhí seachtain thar bharr ar fad againn!
