Mr Price’s 3rd class visited the ESB Networks in Leopardstown on Wednesday May 6th.
Queen of Angels are delighted to take part in the Time to Count Programme every year. The programme provides numeracy support to children in an enjoyable way. Staff members of ESB visited our school weekly to play various maths and board games with our 3rd class pupils. ‘Pay Day’, Bingo and UNO were very popular games. Over the course of the programme, the children formed a close relationship with the volunteers. To finish the programme, the children were kindly invited to visit the ESB Networks in Leopardstown.
Firstly, the children were shown a drone that is used by ESB. We could see our school in the images! The pupils were then shown the big yellow ESB trucks and even got a chance to “drive” the vehicles and beep the horns. We learned and tried on the safety equipment needed-hard helmets and high vis jackets. We were also shown all the equipment the engineers use. Lastly, the children were treated to sweets and were then presented with certificates by their proud volunteers. Third class were kindly gifted four sets of UNO for their classroom!
A big thank you to Helen for organising the day. We hope to welcome ESB volunteers back to Queen of Angels again. Thank you also to Rachel from Business in the Community for facilitating the programme for our school.
