Queen of Angels were chosen to be the launch school for the Return Awards 2026 campaign. It was a wonderful experience for our school.
The children will be used for their tv and media campaigns.
Firstly the children learned about the importance of recycling plastic and the difference we can make in the world. The classes in the senior block completed projects on this topic. They looked at the return symbol that highlights which bottles can be returned through the scheme. The children learned a poem about recycling plastic too.
On the day of the launch the children got to meet Donncha O'Callaghan who is the Return for Schools ambassador. The children were photographed with him and appeared in national newspapers the next day.
The children made a tv debut on Ireland AM as Donncha, Ms Donegan and two children, Trevor and his sister, Zina were interviewed by Derek for a segment on the scheme. Lots of children were filmed recycling the bottles we had collected that week in the background of the filming.
Finally Donncha went into 5th class where they questioned him on how he likes to recycle and all about the Return for Schools project. We can’t wait to see this video when it launches on the Return website and media channels.
Thank you to all involved in making this day so special for our pupils. A special word of thanks to Eva, our parents association chairperson who launched the campaign in our school so successfully that we came to the attention of the Return Project. Thank you also to Kathy who loves to Return our collected bottles and cans every week. To all the teachers who helped make this happen, especially Ms Mc Teague, Mr Connaire and Ms Donegan.
This is a worthwhile project in our school and every cent raised is spent on projects for the children to enjoy.
