Our 6th Class recently took part in a basic First Aid training session with the fantastic first responders, John and Eoin. This was a hugely valuable experience, giving the children important lifesaving skills and knowledge.
The pupils learned how to carry out area safety checks, assess a patient, perform chest compressions and use an AED. They were also taught how to recognise the signs of a stroke and what action to take in an emergency.
The children left the session with a huge sense of achievement, encouragement to pursue the next level of First Aid training, and some very important homework — learning their home and school Eircodes and locating the nearest emergency AEDs in their area.
A huge thank you to John and Eoin for such an engaging and worthwhile session.
