The Second Class children had a wonderful day out in Airfield recently. Their first stop was a pathway walk through the vegetable garden, where they spotted chard, broccoli, grapevines, and many other plants. Jess spoke to them about the trees in Airfield, explaining that many had been brought from different countries. The children really loved playing on these cool trees with their weirdly shaped branches.
Next, they visited the sheep and were delighted to see the new spring lambs happily jumping around the field. In the heart of the farm, they observed cows being milked and explored various barns, where they admired an adorable calf, two very hungry donkeys, and a large ewe with her twin lambs.
The children were then helped to plant sunflower seeds in their very own paper plant pots. Rob and Sarah led an exciting bug hunt, where the children searched for aphids, centipedes, worms, woodlice, and many others. The Oxford Sandy and Black pigs were very sleepy, and it was quite a challenge to wake them!
A big thank you to Sandra and Mary, who supported the group throughout the day. They were fantastic. By the time the children made their way back to school, they had walked over 25,000 steps, capping off a fun and active day.
